TWINT overtakes charging cards
How fast e-mobility is changing! Since June 2025, TWINT has been the most frequently used payment method at BKW charging stations. TWINT has thus surpassed all traditional charging card providers and is now number one in BKW’s charging infrastructure.
This development is confirmed by a recent analysis conducted by BKW, which has examined all transactions since the beginning of the year. The evaluation is particularly meaningful because it applies a very strict counting method for TWINT. Only those transactions were assigned to TWINT where the charging process was initiated directly from the TWINT app – specifically by scanning the TWINT QR code via the interface developed by Hectronic. Charging processes triggered via charging cards or by scanning a separate QR code were always attributed to the respective providers, even if TWINT was stored as the payment method.
When asked why they prefer using the TWINT app, e-mobility users mainly cite the simple, fast, and transparent handling. The price per kilowatt hour is always clearly visible, and unexpected additional costs are a thing of the past.
Conclusion: The trend is clear – simplicity beats complexity. The future of charging is mobile and transparent.
